Ayşen Akıncı is Professor/Head of the Department of Physical and Rehabilitation Medicine (PRM) at Hacettepe University Medical School, Ankara, Turkey. She has finished medical training (1985) and residency (1991) at the same institute where she has also been entitled as Associate Professor (1995) and Professor (2002). She also had rheumatology training as a fellow at Virginia University, Department of Rheumatology/Internal Medicine between 1989-1991. She has rheumatolgy and pain medicine subspecialty diplomas besides P&RM. Her main areas of interest include rheumatologic diseases and pain, as well as musculoskeletal ultrasonography. She has taken part in numerous international, multicenter studies and international advisory boards. She has served as the President of TLAR (Turkish League Against Rheumatism) and organized congresses, symposia and workshops. She also delivered lectures on the aforementioned topics at many national and international meetings. She is the National Delegate of Rheumatology Section in UEMS.
She has authored over 100 publications in various national and international journals. She is also a reviewer for several national and international journals.
